Secrets to Creating a Profitable Website

If you’re going to excel at internet marketing, one of the key skills you need to know is how to create a profitable website. Not every website you see, even from big companies, is “profitable” in the sense that it actually creates profit for the company, or owner. Many websites are nothing more than glorified business cards.

Of course as an internet marketer, you website is essentially your “store”. It’s where you bring your prospect to do business. No website, usually means no business. And a poorly executed website is going to drive customers away as fast as they can hit the back button.

So, to make sure you get started on the right foot as far as knowing how to create a profitable website, there are some secrets you need to know. . .Let’s talk about these.

Landing Page or Content Site?

One thing you need to do is to decide if your website is going to attract traffic through its content (an authority site), or is it just what’s called a landing pagea single page where your prospect lands, reads, then makes a decision to do whatever you want her or him to do. Both models work, but they work differently. Let’s look at the authority, or content, model first as your way to create a profitable website.

Content Site

If you’re building an authority site with the idea of a) drawing traffic in through search engines and b) impressing your visitor enough so that they buy your e-book, click on your CPA offer, or just click on your Google Ad, the first order of business is to have great content.

You can write this sort of content yourself, or better yet you can hire someone to write it for you. Even better, you can buy good PLR content and use that or have it rewritten. According to the keyword phrase youre trying to rank in the search results for, you’ll need from 30 to 100 or even more pages of content. All of this content needs to be more or less focused on your main keyword or group of main keyword phrases. This would be like fishing with a net. You’re aiming for a certain area, but you’re not exactly sure what’s going to catch the fishor in your case, the visit from a search engine search.

The other alternative to creating a profitable website is to build a single page, either a mini-site sales page or a squeeze page and drive traffic to that. The goal here is not to impress your visitor so that they voluntarily come back, but to give them the choice of either buying your product (or opting in to your mailing list) or just leavingprobably forever.

Squeeze Page

Where the content/authority site is like fishing with a net, the single page, squeeze page site is like shooting your fish with a laser. In order to create a profitable website, you need to be aware of which type of site you’re aiming for.

Obviously knowing your goal is key to building a profitable website. Its like Stephen Covey saidyou have to begin with the end in mind.
