Combine Email Marketing and Amazon’s Affiliate Program and Create an Empire!

Amazon has one of the most successful affiliate programs online, if not the most successful. It’s no wonder. They were one of the first companies to even offer affiliate services. This was way back in the late nineties. Even before the dot com crash.

Amazon also enjoys one of the best reputations among consumers of any company on or offline. Buy something from Amazon and don’t like it? No problem. It’s easy to return and you always get your money back, or get credit.

Although Internet buying is increasing rapidly (Christmas buying online increased about 10% in ’08, and this was in the middle of a recession), there are still millions of people who are wary of pulling out the plastic and sending their credit card number to some unknown person online.

But they do trust Amazon.

In other words, products are much easier to sell through Amazon than through probably any other online retailer. So, if you want to create some websites that are real cash cows, Amazon is surely the way to go. Although their commissions are not as high for hard goods as they are for information products, through Clickbank, for instance, the sale is so much easier to make. The conversion rate is also better. (That’s the number of visitors you need to make a sale.)

Now, take this great idea and marry it with the best of internet marketing practices, email marketing, and you’ll really have a juggernaut, which won’t be stopped, and which will pump out hundreds if not thousands of dollars each and every month, with virtually no maintenance from you.

Here’s the idea.

It generally takes people several visits to buy something. With email marketing you can capture your visitors’ email address and then using your autoresponder you can send these folks information about whatever they’re interested in every few days for as long as you want. They basically either buy or opt out of your list.

It’s fairly easy to gather email addresses. The first thing you need to do is to write a quick buyer’s guide. Again, Amazon comes to your rescue. You can go to their bestsellers page and see what the top sellers are for whatever niche you’re in. Just take the top five products, cut and paste Amazon’s information, add a few comments of your own, and voila! You’ve got a buyer’s guide.

Using an opt-in form you make from your autoresponder, you can offer the buyer’s guide to each and every one of your visitors. Even if you’re incompetent, you should get about a 20% sign up rate. By the way, among those folks are the ones who were going to buy from you in the first place. The rest were just tire kickers.

Start collecting emails, create an autoresponder sequence, and continue to offer them various top Amazon products in that niche.
